Year 5 were invited to attend a 5-a-side tournament at Princethorpe School. After a slow start, we grew into the third game and goals from Archie and Patrick secured our first win. We went on to win the next game and went through to the quarter finals where a strong Dunchurch team took advantage of a mix up in defence and scored the winning goal.
All players contributed superbly to the team and represented St Marie’s with confidence and sportsmanship. A special mention to Brooklyn, our goalkeeper, who made a string of excellent saves and received praise from opposition coaches.

On Friday, our whole school came together to celebrate the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough and the incredible legacy he has given our world. 🌍💚
Mrs McCubbin led a special assembly where we learned about who Sir David is and why his life’s work has been so meaningful. Through sharing the beauty and wonder of our planet, he has inspired generations to care for the natural world and protect it for the future.
Back in our classrooms, each year group explored different aspects of sustainability including biodiversity, deforestation, global warming and renewable energy. Our learning was closely linked to Catholic Social Teaching, especially the principles of Stewardship, Care for Creation and the Common Good, reminding us that we all have a responsibility to protect God’s world and care for one another.
As a school community, we each made our own promises to the planet , small actions that can help make a big difference. These promises have been brought together to create a beautiful whole-school display on each site, serving as a daily reminder of our commitment to caring for creation and fulfilling the promises we have made.

Great Athlete Day at Our School!
What an unforgettable day we’ve had celebrating Great Athlete Day! We were incredibly lucky to welcome Team GB athlete Joel Fearon into our school — and what an inspiration he was.
Year 6 kicked things off with an energetic circuit training session, showing fantastic determination, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout. It was brilliant to see everyone pushing themselves and having such a great time.
This was followed by a whole-school assembly where Joe shared his journey as both a sprinter and bobsledder. The children learned so much about dedication, resilience, and—most importantly—being brave when facing challenges.
A huge thank you to Joel for motivating and inspiring our pupils. We’re certain many of them will carry his message forward in their own journeys!

Dear God,
We pray for our Year 6 children as they prepare for their SATs.
Help them to stay calm, focused, and confident in all they do.
Remind them that these tests do not define who they are,
but are simply a chance to show all they have learned.
Bless them with courage when they feel worried,
strength when they feel tired,
and pride in the hard work they have already achieved.
Help us as staff to encourage and support them with kindness and patience.
May every child know they are valued, capable, and cared for.

On Wednesday, the Year 1 children visited Forest School and had a fantastic time. They made bracelets and necklaces, experimented with clay and built dens, enjoyed the tyre swings, played in the mud kitchens, and took part in activities such as weaving and giant Jenga, among many others. We can't wait for next week!

Year 3 had a fantastic day stepping back in time at the Black Country Living Museum!
We experienced life in a Victorian classroom, where we learned the 3 Rs under very strict rules and poor Mr Leahy even got the cane! The children loved exploring the Victorian and Edwardian shops (always remembering ladies first, of course!).
A real highlight was watching the blacksmith at work, where we discovered how metal chains are made, sparks flying and all.
To top it all off, we enjoyed a sunny picnic and a quick play in the park before heading home, full of stories from our trip to the past.
And of course our children were impeccably behaved as always we couldn’t be prouder!

We are really looking forward to our athlete visit tomorrow to celebrate World Athletics Day. Please can children come to school wearing their PE kit. Children will be completing a circuit during the day, you can support by sponsoring on the forms which were sent home last week and sending cash into school, or by using the QR code to donate online. All donations will go to The Great Athletes charity.

Year 3 had a fantastic time in PE this week developing their cricket skills!
We focused on striking and fielding, with the children practising how to hit the ball with control and accuracy, as well as working as a team to field quickly and effectively. There was some brilliant teamwork, great sportsmanship and lots of determination on display.
It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as the session went on, well done, Year 3!
