This week in Literacy, Nursery were continuing their learning of their new story 'The Ugly Duckling'. They began to realise that we are all special, different and unique. They each had to make a star demonstrating a special quality of a friend in the class. At group time, we gifted our stars to our friends to make them happy and we told them why we think they are special. This relates to our Catholic social teaching qualities and our Serving God Aspire values.

Today, we were fortunate to have a representative from CAFOD visit and share insights into the incredible work they do. The representative explained how the funds we raised will directly support the charity’s initiatives, helping to make a meaningful difference in communities around the world. It was inspiring to learn more about the projects CAFOD is involved in, from providing emergency relief to supporting sustainable development and empowering local communities. We left the session feeling motivated and grateful to be part of such a positive impact.

In Year 2, we have been exploring our school environment. We noted down the features we found and categorised them into human or physical features. We then created our own symbols to represent each one as we drew them onto our maps. We also enjoyed using a range of techniques to travel in PE. We practiced our jumping, climbing and balancing skills to manoeuvre our way around the apparatus.

The children had such a great time raising money this afternoon walking around Rugby School. Well done children for your fantastic behaviour and energetic walking. And thank you to all parents and carers who have donated to CAFOD. So far, we have raised £377 for such a wonderful cause. Here is the link if you would like to donate.
